WRITTEN WORK

Samples of my written articles

FOX SPORTS

As an editorial intern for the Spring semester, I got to publish several breaking news pieces during the NFL's free agency period and the MLB pre-season. I also got the chance to hunt for and write topical pieces surrounding the end of the college basketball season, including a feature I worked on which detailed a storyline for each of the 64 NCAA Women's Basketball tournament teams.

Here are a few of the pieces I contributed to:

"Women’s Sports Are Making Strides Towards Equality.
However, It Is Still Not Satisfactory"

“Don't support the game just to support women's basketball. Watch the game because it is a good product.”

- 2x WNBA Champion Kelsey Plum

In my JOUR335 Research Methods class, I was tasked with writing a lengthy paper on a topic of my choosing. Amid a resurgent period of women's sports coverage and awareness, I dissected the past and looked toward the future possibilities when money, time, and effort is poured into women's sports. I conducted case studies, surveys, two interviews, and analyzed several articles detailing these ideas and am proud of my final product which you can find below.

Written game recaps for online publication

SPORTS INFORMATION JOB

After being hired in the Fall of 2021, I have written several game recaps covering Water Polo, Basketball, Baseball, and Tennis. Through this job, I have learned to analyze game stats, compare the team's success to the rest of their season, determine how the game, match, race, etc. played out the way it did, and give a game summary for those who were unable to physically attend the event. I've really enjoyed this job and am grateful for my boss who believes in me and also provides me with good advice and tips.

Below are some of my most recent or favorite articles.

DODGERS NATION

Across the nine months I worked for Dodgers Nation, I wrote over 80 stories that focused on all things Dodgers. From big plays in the games to off-season updates, from rumors to injury news, and off-the-field action and community involvement.

Here are a few of my favorite stories below as well as a link to access all the stories I wrote during my time with DN.

DODGERS: WATCH TRAYCE THOMPSON ABSOLUTELY CRUSH A HOMER AGAINST SAN DIEGO

Cash considerations. That’s all it took to acquire Trayce Thompson.

On Sunday night, the 31-year-old gave it right back to the team who gave him away just a few months prior. After just 6 appearances in Padres uniform, the team was ready to DFA him.

DODGERS: FANS REACT TO JAMES OUTMAN’S RECENT PERFORMANCES DOWN IN OKC

To say James Outman is the Dodgers’ No. 13 prospect in the system proves just how deep LA’s minor league program is while also heavily understating just how good the kid really is.

DODGERS NEWS: DOC CONSIDERS MOOKIE BETTS “ONE OF THE BEST IN THE GAME” AFTER MARLINS WIN

After Friday night’s show, there’s no doubt about it that the name of Mookie Betts has and will continue to go down in history.

That’s his goal with every single game he plays.

Along with writing for Dodgers Nation, I also produced articles for two Sports Illustrated sites: Inside the Dodgers and Halos Today (Angels site).

REDWOOD GIGANTEA

Written articles from high school

I took pride in covering big sporting events on campus, breaking down the success of a program, and during my senior year, took on a more investigative journalism approach by working directly with CIF staff and administration. I was the Chief Editor of our school newspaper for three years and also rebuilt the online version of our paper as well as editing and creating four print editions a year.
